LA Times - The Federal Aviation Administration on Thursday said it is investigating a video, titled “Harlem Shake Frontier Flight 157,” that shows Colorado College’s ultimate Frisbee team doing the meme with their fellow passengers. ”That was my Ultimate Frisbee team and a bunch of random people as well,” said senior team captain Dan Eppstein, 21. “Everyone who was on that flight joined in.” Eppstein said the team asked a Frontier Airlines flight attendant if it was OK to shoot the video. They then asked the permission of everyone else on the flight and no one said they would mind. A spokeswoman for Frontier Airlines confirmed the FAA investigation. She said the airline couldn’t comment but did say that “all safety measures were followed and the seat belt sign was off.” The video shows a couple of people wearing a mask and one person with a banana costume. After the song’s bass drops, the video gets very shaky, which might be why the FAA is conducting its investigation.
Kind of wish the FAA was investigating the fiery wreckage of flight 157 instead of how a flight attendant allowed a Youtube to get made. Ha, Just kidding, just kidding. I don’t actually wish everyone who still makes a Harlem Shake video dies in a terrible aviation disaster. More like just want someone to walk up to them at random intervals throughout the day and sucker punch them in the dick or something. Much less harsh. But still sends a message.
Listen I’ll give the Colorado College Ultimate Frisbee team some credit. Kind of impressive they got an entire wild dance number organized on an airplane flight where you like can’t even stand up to use the bathroom too quickly without an air marshal drawing his gun on you and the pilot making an emergency landing. But let’s take some social cues and realize when a trend is dead and just let it lie. No need to get everyone at Frontier Airlines fired because you wanted to take a break from smoking massive amounts of weed and tossing disc around to be a part of a viral video craze.
