CBS – The prospect and rumor of Duke breaking an NCAA rule in the dark of the night has people in a tizzy.  And it’s all because of an anecdote Dan Patrick passed along.  Near the end of his national radio show Thursday morning, Patrick said the following:  ”Am I allowed to tell people about what happened with Duke basketball? Now, we’re looking into this. The Duke charter landed in Durham at 12:42 in the morning. Practiced started at 1:30 a.m., finished up at 4:45 a.m. We’re being told by a couple of people who work there at Duke that Coach K was not pleased after being blown out by 27.”  Mike Krzyzewski is denying that publicly.

If true, Duke would have violated an NCAA rule that states practice cannot take place between midnight and 5 a.m. unless it’s initiated only by the players and only players are present.

What are the chances this practice actually went down?  1000%  10005%  I mean did you see Coach K’s face on the sideline when the score hit like 85-2?  He wasn’t even yelling anymore.  Just dead silent staring straight ahead.  That’s when you know you fucked up.  That’s how you know you’re flying home and instead of heading back to your dorm you’re heading to the baseline to run suicides from 1:30 to 4:45 AM.  Then reports start to leak out and Coach K calls up some of his buddies in the media and tells them to shoot it down then before you know it all the major media is reporting it 100% didn’t happen.  Yeah ok.   We all have eyes.  We all saw that game.  Duke is clearly in shambles and Coach K obviously punished the fuck out of them until the crack of dawn.

Oh and make no mistake I have zero problem with this practice.  Zero.  You just got blown out, embarrassed, and emasculated on national television by a team barely ranked.  Just pushed your shit in while you and Dickie V watched helplessly.  You should be running lines and doing up downs and Vegas Shuffles all night. That’s what happens when you sign up to play hoops for one of the best basketball schools in the country.  Have a tough time believing any player complained about this but then again this is Duke we’re talking about.
