(NEWSER) – A student is suing Columbia University after he was hospitalized against his will for 30 days—apparently for cussing out his Spanish professor, the Columbia Spectator reports. In his lawsuit, Oren Ungerleider admits to calling his professor a bitch in front of the class over a low grade. But he got the surprise of his life at 12:30am when the school’s associate dean sent officials into his locked dorm room. The Columbia-Juilliard student refused to cooperate, and soon NYPD officers carted him off to St. Luke’s hospital, according to the claim.
The lawsuit says Ungerleider refused to answer psychiatrists’ questions and tried to leave, but doctors forcibly injected him with Haldol. He requested his release several times, but a doctor said he had “grandiose and paranoid delusions” and a confused thought process. Even a court date to challenge his hospitalization failed to result in his release. He took time off from school and ended up at Ohio State University—but says he lost all desire to pursue his budding career as a violinist, or even play. His $10 million lawsuit also names Continuum Health Partners as a defendant.
Such a typical college administrator move. Just no end to the scope of their power trip. Gotten to the point where you can’t even call your Spanish teacher a puta anymore without being involuntarily hospitalized for a month and forbidden to leave while being injected with tranquilizers every day and losing your drive to launch a career as a violinist. I mean a lot of naive people will question whether maybe Oren Ungerleider is exaggerating here or just plain making shit up. They’ll say it seems kind of weird that in this day and age it doesn’t really make sense how someone could be just shoved in a psychiatric hospital for calling your teacher names, and that even a judge in a courtroom would be in on the scheme and not let you out. That no media heard about it or your parents didn’t step in or that absolutely nobody did anything to help you. Nope not me. I know just how far these college administrators will go to be in complete control. How if you step on their toes or go after their professors they’ll go after you hard. Kind of like David Stern with his referees except instead of a huge fine and 1 game suspension they’ll stick you in an insane asylum and destroy your career in classical instruments. Scary stuff.
