USA – On Tuesday afternoon, it appeared senior wide receiver Kenny Bell’s playing days at Alabama were over following a string of posts released from his Twitter account.
“I’ve made so many memories here @ Alabama but some things you gotta let go,” he tweeted Tuesday. “…it’s been a nice run but I’m hanging up my cleats.”
However Alabama coach Nick Saban said later Tuesday that Bill had not officially parted from the team, saying he gave the receiver a “personal day” and that he expected him to be back at practice Wednesday.
“Sometimes we have personal things that we need to get ironed out,” Saban said. “He had a day today to do that.”
Then Bell returned to Twitter Tuesday night to say he’s back on the team, tweeting: “I’m back with the team!! Just needed time to myself for a day but I couldn’t leave my boy @10AJMcCarron we ended this run together. #16″
Oh man would I love to be a fly on the wall for that conversation. Walking into Coach Saban’s office to tell him you’re quitting the team one game into the season to spend time with your kids. Yeah sure Saban seems pretty laid back and chill. Totally like the type of guy who understands that family comes first and that some thing are more important than a football team. Probably just give you a handshake and a big old hug and commend you on having your priorities in order. At least that’s how I picture Saban operating his team.
Let’s just say it’s no surprise this hiatus lasted approximately 5 hours and 25 minutes.
