Daily Camera - The University of Colorado is investigating two recent cases of “sextortion,” in which a woman engaged in explicit activity with CU students over Skype and then threatened to distribute the video if they did not pay her.

According to a release, the suspect friended the male victims on Facebook before asking them to have a video conversation on Skype. The woman — who has the username “queenie lee” — asked the students to remove their clothes and engage in some form of sexual exchange.

Once the Skype calls ended, the suspect contacted the students and threatened to share the video with their Facebook friends unless they sent her money. In the two CU cases, neither student paid the money.

The two cases may be related to similar incidents reported in the spring. In one of the cases, the victim sent money to the Phillipines, while the other victim did not send any money.

So confused about this story. How the hell do you get sextorted? Like how do you let this entire thing happened? What kind of naive sheltered bubble could you possibly exist in where a super hot girl you don’t know friends you on Facebook then immediately wants to start having cyber sex over Skype? I don’t know, maybe I’m just really smart on the topic because I’m a professional Internet-er. Maybe not everyone is as hyper-aware of the perils of the internet as I am. But as someone who is a big proponent of “common sense,” the fact that someone named Queenie Lee, whom you’ve never met or spoken to before, seeks you out and asks you to please masturbate in front of her on your webcam, and that doesn’t raise a HUGE red flag in your mind…is troublesome to say the least. Tough to feel bad for you on that one, I don’t care how much money you wired to the Western Pacific.
