Baylor Basketball Gets First #1 Ranking In School History – Promptly Gets Blown The Fuck Out By West Virginia
Baylor Hoops first ever #1 ranking, as told in picture form:
Unranked and almost an afterthought to begin this season, Baylor is now atop the men’s college basketball world.
The Bears (15-0) rose to No. 1 in the Associated Press rankings for the first time in school history on Monday. The door to the top spot opened with Butler’s upset of previously top-ranked Villanova last week. Big 12 rival Kansas moved into second in the poll. Baylor received 55 of 65 first-place votes.
Before this season, Baylor’s previous top AP ranking was No. 3 in January 2012 during a 17-0 start. The Bears are one of two unbeaten Division I teams remaining, along with Gonzaga. [Dallas News]
Poor Baylor. Get the first #1 ranking in your program’s history and promptly tumble right out of it by getting blown the fuck out. Not like I feel bad for a one loss team who is still going to be just fine, but a matchup with that West Virginia press IN MORGANTOWN as your first game at number one is just shit luck.
Bright side for Baylor, not only were they unranked in the first two AP polls, they didn’t even receive one single vote to be in the polls. To end up at #1 is pretty remarkable and one loss isn’t the end of the world.
29 turnovers lmao.
