NFL Picks
Season Record 20-20
Last Week 4-0
Mortal Lock Record 3-5-1
After all the whining and moaning about how bad our NFL picks have been this season it’s hard to believe that we have finally clawed our way back to the .500 mark, courtesy of a 4-0 weekend in our last round of selections. You know the feeling you get when you watch a game and one team falls way behind early and then mounts a steady comeback until it becomes obvious that they are going to end up winning? This is how I feel about our NFL picks this year. We dug an early hole but we’ve continually been getting better and better every week and now we can’t help but run the ball for 7 yards a pop despite the fact the bookmaker has 10 guys in the box.
Tampa Bay at Pats -4
I was shocked by the lack of coverage the Pats received on a national level after destroying the Bills in Buffalo last week. To me that game officially signaled that the Champs are back. This week they’ll leave no doubt as they’ll post their 3rd straight win in impressive fashion destroying the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This will be the game that forces the “experts” to start talking about the Pats as a legitimate threat to win the super bowl again. It will also be the game that causes the 3-time Citrus Bowl MVP, Peyton Manning, to piss himself with fear. I’m telling you right now that the Patriots will be just as strong as they were last year in the playoffs. The only difference is that they will have to play an extra road game. But barring any more injuries this team is finally healthy enough to win the whole thing again and they are going to demolish everything in their path the rest of the regular season.
Mortal Lock – Pats
SD at Indy +9
I’m still shocked that San Diego lost to Miami last week. I would have bet my life that the Bolts would have won that game. I literally would have bet my life. I’d be dead right now. Needless to say that game has drastically changed how I view the AFC landscape. There are the Colts and the Pats and everybody else. While I’m not nearly as confident about the Chargers winning this game as I was before last week, I still think this will be the Colts toughest game up to this point. As a side note, I’m rooting for the Colts to remain undefeated the entire season so we can go up there for the AFC Championship and ruin people’s lives. I desperately want to make that trip to Indy and watch the entire city crumble when the dynasty comes rolling through.
The Pick – SD
Philly at SL -3
The Rams shouldn’t be favored against anybody. It would be a crime against humanity not to bet against them when they are laying points. St. Louis has lost 4 out of their last five games with their lone victory coming against the powerhouse Texans. Listen Rams fans, Mike Martz isn’t going to come walking through that door and if he did he’d be old and grey. Sure the Eagles are in disarray but if you throw out the Monday Night debacle against the Seahawks they have pretty much played everybody tough. I think Philly finally gets their first post T.O. victory against the Rams in this one.
The Pick – Philly
Denver at Buffalo -7.5
Speaking of teams in disarray, the Bills are falling apart at the seams. And things don’t get much easier for Buffalo this week against the Broncos. Ordinarily I’d stay away from this game because the Bills have proven that they can be tough at home this year. Don’t forget that before the Patriots went in there last week they were 4-2 at home including a dominating victory over the Chiefs in early November. But the last two weeks have completely taken the life out of the Bills. First they had the devastating loss to Miami two weeks ago when they blew a huge lead and then last week the Pats stomp on their faces. I just don’t see the Bills rallying around JP Losman who sucks as they mail it in the rest of the way.
The Pick – Denver
