NFL Picks

Last Week 3-1

Mortal Lock Record 1-1

Season Record 5-4

Solid effort in the pros last week which saved me from going bankrupt after a terrible college performance.    Sure the Pats almost gave me a heart attack as they blew a 24 pt lead and ended up only covering by 1 pt, but I’ll gladly take a heart attack as long as I survive it and still cover.

Baltimore at Cleveland +6.5

I’m not buying for a second that the Ravens are back.  They have to be the worst 2-0 team in the history of the NFL.    But I guess if you keep playing the Raiders and Browns every week you have a chance to go 16-0.   Still I refuse to believe that they deserve to be almost a TD favorite here.   I’m going to take Cleveland in this game.   I just think 6.5 is too many for the Ravens to be giving to anybody on the road.  I don’t know how Cleveland is going to stay in this one but I just know they are.       This one is for you Art Modell.

The Pick – Cleveland

St. Louis at AZ -4.5

Umm, the Rams lost at San Francisco last week.   This means they are bad.   Mike Martz isn’t walking through that door.   Marshall Faulk isn’t walking through that door.   Kurt Warner’s wife isn’t walking through that door.  And if they did, they’d be old and grey.    As much as it seems like I could get arrested for betting on the Cardinals as a favorite, I have no choice in this one.

The Pick – AZ

Cincy at Pitt -3

Keep in mind I’m writing this before Pittsburgh’s MNF game against the Jags, but I’m not drinking the Steelers’ Kool-Aid this year.   I think the Bengals are the 2nd best team in the league behind the Patriots.  And I also think that if Carson Palmer didn’t get hurt on the first play of the game last year vs. Pittsburgh in the playoffs that the Bengals would have beat them.   I’m not saying this is a revenge game for Cincy but I’m not saying it’s not either.

The Pick – Bengals

Jags at Indy -9.5

Again as a reminder this pick was made before the Jags played on MNF so if the entire team broke their leg or something then this pick becomes junk.   But assuming that nothing catastrophic happened against the Steelers, I love the Jags here.   Everybody knows that Peyton Manning and the Colts struggle against good physical defenses.   Sure they’ll run up 50 on the Texans (Good to see Mario Williams making a difference) but when somebody punches them in the mouth they go running home to momma.   The Jags may not win this game because their offense isn’t very good, but it should be close the entire time.
