Well we didn’t publish any picks last week. I apologize to all the Stoolies who depend on us to make them money. Unfortunately I got caught up in our Wicked Halloween Party and didn’t get around to writing a column. And to make matters worse I hate the board this week. Usually when I write my college football picks I need to narrow like 10 games down to four. This week I struggled to find four games that I really liked. In the end I came up with a four dog special that should bail everybody out who couldn’t win without us last week.
Pitt at South Florida +5.5
South Florida is a pretty good football team. The only thing that worries me about them is that their coach is too positive. I mean he’s always clapping on the sidelines like things are going great even if they are losing by two TD’s with a minute to go in the game. Regardless, there is no way they should be catching 5.5 points here. In fact if I was making the line I’d have them as a 2 pt favorite. Pitt is coming off a tough loss to Rutgers in a game in which they got totally dominated. South Florida actually gave the Scarlet Knights a much tougher game than the Panthers did. It wouldn’t shock me if Pitt won this game, but it would shock me if they covered.

LSU at Tennessee +2
Huh? How is Tennessee the underdog here? Is it my imagination or does LSU get more respect than any other team in the Nation? It doesn’t matter who they play or where they play, they are always the favorite. They were favored at Auburn and lost. They were favored at Florida and lost big. So why does Vegas keep making them the favorite in tough SEC road games when they haven’t won a tough SEC road game all year? It doesn’t make any sense to me. And Tennessee is certainly better than Auburn this year and as good as Florida so it doubly makes no sense. Don’t think, just throw, don’t think just throw…

BC at Wake Forest +4
Sorry Superfans, but I got to go with the Deacons here. This game should be a pick em. I am absolutely not drinking the BC kool aid. Personally I think they are decent just like they always are. I don’t think they are any better or any worse than they are every year. The only difference is the ACC sucks this year. I mean what are the odds that the big 3 (Miami, FSU and Virginia Tech) would all be horrible this year? It’s literally unbelievable. Now on the flip side Wake Forest is MUCH better than they usually are. This is the best team they’ve ever had at Wake and BC always struggles with them anyway. Therefore, I think Wake Forest wins this game straight up. And here is the scary thing. I think I’d still take Wake even if they were the 4 pt favorite. I just think the Deacons will be ready for this game and I don’t think BC is as good as Vegas thinks they are right now.

Sticking with the miserable ACC, I’m going to bet against the Noles for the 3rd consecutive week here. Last week I hammered Maryland and the week before I hammered the Superfans. Florida State just ain’t that good boys. As hard as it is to believe, they just ain’t that good. Now don’t get me wrong, Virginia sucks too, but they have been playing better recently. And FSU shouldn’t be spotting 11 pts to anybody right now. There will probably be like 7 people in the crowd for this game which will help the Cavs. Also, I feel like when the season goes bad at places like FSU and Miami it goes real bad because everybody quits on the season. I mean it’s hard to get yourself motivated when you’re used to competing for the National Championship every year and suddenly you’re fighting to get in the Cheerio Bowl in early November. I think they’ll sleepwalk through this game and barely survive.
