Best & Worst of Superhero Movie Girlfriends
Iron Man opens this weekend. And call me a nerd, but I'll be damned if the sun will come up Monday morning without me having seen it. We are living in the Golden Age of comic book superhero movies, and they've got the formula almost perfected. Troubled loner looking for his purpose in life. Discovers he has powers. Uses them to do good, help those who need help, and most importantly, score chicks. Every superhero movie has to have the love interest, and Iron Man's appears to Leslie Bibb, who played Ricky Bobby's wife:

Not a bad choice; she was cute in Talledega Nights, but I'm not sure if she's worthy of cracking the Superhero Movie Girlfriend Top Ten list:
10. Michelle Pfeiffer, Catwoman, Batman Returns

The kinky, cross-species near-mating scene between Catwoman and Batman made the suits at Warner Bros. throw up in their mouths, which hastened Tim Burton's departure and the arrival of the abominable Joel Schumaker for the last two sequels. Still, it was worth it.
9. Jennifer Garner, Electra, Daredevil

Electra's superpower is... what exactly? I have no idea, but it might be shape-shifting as she's one of those chicks who goes from smoking hot to... not so much, every time you see her. Still, not to be insensitive, but she's way too good looking to be dating a blind guy. Just sayin'.
8. Diane Lane, Judge Hershey, Judge Dredd

About one hundred people saw this movie, and I'm not one of them, I'll be honest with you. But I'll guarantee Lane was as MILFtastic as she always is.
7. Eva Mendes, Roxanne, Ghost Rider

Eva's presence guaranteed that a fiery Hell demon with a burning head could be no more than the second hottest thing in the movie.
6. Anna Paquin, Rogue, X-Men

Rogue has a school girl crush on Wolverine, but even mutants have age of consent laws, so she has to settle for Iceman. With the ability to absorb the powers of anyone she touches, you'd think she'd could do better than hooking up with a guy who has all the power of a hotel ice machine.
5. Katie Holmes, Rachel Dawes, Batman Begins

Playing Bruce Wayne's childhood friend/ love interest in by far the best Batman movie of them all, Katie was adorable as always. And undoubtedly being married to a bizarre, mysterious, shadowy recluse in real life helped her prepare for the role.
4. Kate Bosworth, Lois Lane, Superman Returns

She's of course great in business wear and glasses, and that's fine. But you hope eventually, if the sequels run out of ideas, she'll help save Metropolis by donning the bikini she wore in Blue Crush. Maybe to stop a Tsnami or something? You're welcome, Hollywood.
3. Jennifer Connelly, Betty Ross, Hulk

The movie was such a disaster even Connelly couldn't save it with her A Beautiful Mind Oscar in her hands and her blouse unbuttoned. While she wasn't vintage Inventing the Abbotts Connelly, she still was the only good thing in this trainwreck.
2. Famke Janssen, Jean Grey/ Phoenix, X-Men

Wolverine's love interest who has superpowers of her own and supermodel looks to go with them. Not that anyone wants to date a girl with the power to read your mind, but if you're with a guy with razor sharp claws that pop out when he gets excited, you probably need that.
1. Jessica Alba, Sue Storm, The Fantastic Four

Another superheroine/ girlfriend. We can only assume the attraction with Reed Richards has to do with his ability to stretch his anatomy. Only intense Gamma radiation and cruel fate would make her superpower be Invisibilty.
And the Worst:
5. Kim Basinger, Vicky Vale, Batman

It's not as if Basinger has never been hot. But her whiney, screamy acting in the first Batman was worse than her real-life performance as Ireland Baldwin's mom.
4. Kirsten Dunst, Mary Jane Watson, Spiderman

A city of millions of women, and it's finest superhero settles for his annoying next door neighbor with face like a frying pan. Only the nipply make out scene in the rainy alley kept her out of the bottom three.
3. Alicia Silverstone, Batgirl, Batman & Robin

Apparently all you need to become a superheroine is to have a costume and a motorcycle. Then you'll be doing back flips in 5" stillettos. And a female moustache seemed to help, too.
2. Margot Kidder, Lois Lane, Superman

It's hard to imagine now, but in the late '70's, this bag of bones was considered sexy.
1. Robin

I don't care which one you pick, Burt Ward (from The Batman Movie) or Chris O'Donnell (from Batman & Robin), his relationship with Bruce Wayne was, to be politically correct, Liberace-esque.
