1. How many times would you say that the average guy gets rejected at a bar before finding a chick that digs him? What advice would you give the guy to improve his chances?
Amanda - It's about 2-"whatever's," 1- "I will kill you if you talk to my girlfriend again" and a slap later.
So, that's about 4 times on average.
My advice- Drink a case of beer so you don't really know what's happening.
Sarah - While working behind the bar, I see a lot of different interactions between guys and girls. Guys are either jerks and too aggressive, or the girls are stuck-up. My advice to the guys is to not get too wasted. Puking on a girl you are trying to mack on is NEVER a turn on. Get a good buzz going and give her one too; send her and her friend a drink.
Lisa - If a guy is trying to hard, he will be rejected several times before finding someone who will be drunk enough to talk to him. Girls always notice the guy who is “hitting on everything in the bar”, I guess it just takes that special someone who doesn’t care. My advice would be to sit back, take it all in and focus on one girl who really grabs your attention.
2. What percentage of girls would you say cheat on their boyfriend? Do you think it is off limits for a guy to flirt with a girl who has a boyfriend?
Amanda - 65%?? Harmless flirting is okay but some guys take it too far. Don't expect she'll drop her boyfriend because you put a mint in your mouth before you said something stupid.
Sarah - I think more girls cheat than are willing to admit it. I personally think it’s a horrible thing to do to someone, but if a girlfriend is still flirting with guys, then her relationship standards aren’t too high. As far as I’m concerned, it’s open season. But what kind of a guy is going to take a girl that cheats seriously? I think we should all have higher standards. After all, karma is a bitch and what goes around comes around (especially things like VD haha!).
Lisa- I honestly don’t know what percentage of girls cheat on their boyfriends. But, flirting is harmless, as long as neither person takes it too far.
3. Is it true that a girl knows whether she'd ever sleep with a guy within the first 5 minutes of meeting him? 3b.Is there anything you can do to change a first impression?
Amanda - You can bet the farm she does. b. No, if you've used a whole can of Aqua Net to get that perfect look or pranced around the bar in a t-shirt that reads "your boobs are staring at my eyes"(based on a true story) - you're screwed.
Sarah - Hmm… five minutes? First impressions are important, but might do more damage than good. Once again, the puke first impression is irreconcilable. However, the cute guy who buys a girl and her friends a round (and asked the bartender what they are drinking first) gains a few points. Just be honest and smart. Don’t be too cool to laugh at yourself if you trip on the way over to say hi.
Lisa- Girls know within 5 minutes that if they wanted to sleep with him they could. There really is nothing a guy could do to change that… sorry!
4. What are your feelings about guys wearing cologne in a bar? What message do you think it sends?
Amanda - I love it. The same message he's sending 365 days a year- I want to get laid.
Sarah - I say yes. Today’s young men are smart, sophisticated, and good with things like personal hygiene. Taking care of yourself (i.e. hair, cologne, and a good shave) shows that you will be able to handle more, like how to handle a girl. And god knows we are a handful. Just keep it to 2 or 3 well-placed sprays. You don’t want to fumigate the whole bar.
Lisa - One word of advice: Moderation! If a guy walks by who has obviously bathed in his cologne it is a complete turnoff. However, if I am walking through a crowded bar, a good scent could be a way to get me to notice someone.
5. What is the best part about working at McFadden's?
Amanda – The people I work with including my partner in crime, Lisa.
Sarah - The bar is a blast! It’s rowdy and there’s never a dull moment. I work with awesome people and we all have such a fantastic time together, it’s easy for the crowd to catch on. McFadden’s is bananas, and is easily the most fun I have every weekend. Come check it out for yourself!
Lisa - The best part about being a bartender at McFadden’s is the staff! I am very lucky to work with such great people. We are all very close, management included, and it makes my job really fun. I show up to work knowing that I am going to have a great time and wanting to ensure that my customers are having a great time as well. I think that is one of the reasons for the bar’s success. I love my job!
